Sola Apartments.
Multifamily · Seattle, Washington · 2023

Project brief
Sola Apartments is a planned six-story mixed-use building at 2240 Eastlake Avenue East in Seattle's Eastlake neighborhood. It is designed to hold about 70 apartments, with filings listing 70 or 71 units, above roughly 1,740 square feet of ground-floor retail and parking for 37 vehicles. Grancorp Holdings is the developer, Jensen Design Architects is the architect, and Root of Design is the landscape architect.
The building is planned to replace the former Eastlake Market on a corner site. It is designed as wood-frame construction over a concrete podium, with retail at street level, two levels of parking and a rooftop amenity space. The site is close to transit serving South Lake Union. The project received Early Design Guidance in March 2022, and a design review recommendation meeting followed in October 2023. During review, the local community council raised concerns about the height of the ground-floor commercial space. The city issued its land use decision in September 2024, and the master use permit has been reported as issued. GenCap is named as the builder, but no construction start has been reported.
In 2023, BOGZA produced an exterior rendering of the building as seen from the street corner in soft daylight. The image shows a facade of dark panels and brick, steel balconies and a planted edge along the sidewalk.
