Project brief

La Griglia is an Italian restaurant at 2817 West Dallas Street in Houston, Texas, on a site between the River Oaks and Montrose neighborhoods. Houston restaurateur Tony Vallone founded it, and it has been owned by Landry's since 2004. In 2023 it moved a few blocks from its longtime home in the River Oaks Shopping Center on West Gray to the new West Dallas location. Reynolds Design International handled the interior design.

The new restaurant is more formal than the original, with marble, brass and leather finishes and white tablecloths. It includes an intimate main dining room, a wine room and private rooms for events. A large courtyard patio and bar sits under a retractable roof. Large live oaks, vines, flowering plants and a water feature surround the outdoor dining area. For the move, a James Beard Award-winning chef was brought in to rework the menu. The last service at the old site was on November 4, 2023. La Griglia reopened on West Dallas on November 20, 2023, and it remains in operation.

BOGZA produced exterior and interior renderings and 360° tours of the restaurant in 2023. The visuals cover the ivy-covered entry court and the pergola-covered patio, with its white-clothed tables and hexagonal tile floors.
