15 Music Square.
Multifamily · Nashville, Tennessee · 2019

Project brief
15 Music Square was designed as a 19-story mixed-use tower on Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee, at 15 Music Square West along 17th Avenue South. Plans announced in February 2019 called for ground-floor retail beneath more than 100 one- and two-bedroom residences. More than 20 of those units were to be affordable studio apartments. The developer was Ditto Residential, a Washington, D.C. firm, and the tower would have been its first project outside that city. The design team included Nashville-based Smith Gee Studio, Hollwich Kushner (HWKN) and Workstead Studio.
The site sits next to the Virgin Hotel, which was under construction when the plans were announced. At the time it held a one-story building used as a dental office, which was not considered historically significant to Music Row, and Ditto was under contract to buy the property. The project did not move forward. The developer later canceled it, citing rising construction material costs, and the tower was never built.
In 2019, while the project was still a proposal, BOGZA produced exterior and interior renderings for Ditto. The exterior views show a tower with a stepped profile and a facade of sculpted, faceted balconies rising over a glazed ground floor. They include a dusk view of the balconied facade seen from the tree-lined street.
