Project brief

5 Row Apartments is a 128-unit garden-style apartment community at 506 Five Row Way in Charlottesville, Virginia, within the Albemarle Business Campus in Albemarle County. The unit mix leans toward larger homes: 100 two-bedroom apartments and 28 one-bedroom apartments, ranging from about 885 to 1,138 square feet. LandStriker developed the community, The Gaines Group designed it, and KBS served as general contractor.

The developer describes the architecture as modern and clean. Shared amenities include a resort-style pool, a clubhouse, a 24-hour fitness center, a coworking space, bike storage and a private dog park. Each apartment has smart home technology and its own patio or balcony. The community is EarthCraft certified, a green building program for the Southeast that rewards energy and resource efficiency. Construction was underway in 2023, and 5 Row Apartments is now complete, open and leasing.

In 2019, working for PeakMade Real Estate, BOGZA produced exterior renderings, 360° tours and floor plans for the community, giving prospective residents a way to see the buildings and apartment layouts before completion. One exterior view looks across the fenced dog park toward the residential buildings, which are clad in gray and wood-toned panels.
