Project brief
Everline Resort & Spa is a 405-room hotel and condominium resort at the base of Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley, California, near Lake Tahoe. It opened in 1992 as the Resort at Squaw Creek, a year-round mountain resort with ski-in/ski-out access, a championship golf course, pools, trails, a fly-fishing center and more than 33,000 square feet of flexible event space. It operates under the Destination by Hyatt brand. In 2005 many of its hotel rooms were converted into condominium suites, and most of those suites are rented to guests through the resort's rental program.
On a 195-acre site, the resort centers on a main lodge faced in sandstone block and a nine-story guest-room tower, along with a shopping arcade. The lobby has a two-story glass west wall and an oversized fireplace. In 2018, Chicago-based Looney & Associates led a $2 million refresh of the lobby and meeting spaces, planned for completion by January 2019. The design called for a warm natural palette accented with deep spruce blues and rich wood tones, tailored furniture with clean lines, and layouts for games and fireside seating. The resort took its current name in 2023. The name was chosen with the Washoe Tribe after the neighboring ski area became Palisades Tahoe.
BOGZA produced an interior rendering of the lobby lounge for the 2018 refresh. The image shows timber trusses overhead, a tall window wall facing the snowy mountains, globe chandeliers and clusters of armchairs and sofas grouped for conversation.
