Project brief
Lexington Industrial Park is a planned industrial site of about 204 acres on Brown Street in Lexington, North Carolina, near Interstate 85. The land straddles both sides of Brown Street and is zoned for industrial use. The City of Lexington proposed it as a location for manufacturing and logistics companies. The site's layout offers roughly 130 contiguous acres for building. No developer or architect for future buildings has been named.
The property is certified as one of ElectriCities' Smart Sites, a program that prepares shovel-ready land for economic development in the utility's member communities, and it appears among the program's featured available sites. To secure the land, the city planned a public-private arrangement in which an LLC would make the down payment, with a development company contributing $175,000 and the city adding more than $200,000. The city named Front Street Capital as its business partner, and marketing of the property followed a public hearing. The site was listed for sale in 2021 with a proposed use as an industrial park. No construction or completion date has been reported.
In 2021, BOGZA produced an animation and renderings of the site for Chair 8 Media. The visuals show how the land could be developed. One aerial view depicts a full build-out of distribution buildings set among surrounding farmland, with ponds and green buffers placed between the structures and the fields.
